2003 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient

Edward F. Oliver earned his degree in July 1942 after just 22 months of study (compressed schedule due to WWII). He served in the Pacific and advanced to ship's master. After the war, he worked as master of chief mate on both cargo ships and passenger lines.  

Oliver completed a 23 year career with the US Coast Guard rising from Lieutenant (JG) to Captain.Oliver held many positions over the years, including: Captain of the port of New York (1973-76), Head of operations for Reading of Bates Drilling Company in Indonesia, Director of Saudi Arabia's largest bulk oil terminal in Yanbu, on the Red Sea, Admirality consultant to the United Nations.
