2016 Rising Star Award Recipient

Tim McCarthy is a dual Cal Maritime graduate earning his Marine Engineering Technology degree in 2005, and a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management in 2016. 

McCarthy began working at Marine Mechanical Incorporated in Seattle, Washington as an engineer after graduation and has quickly advanced within the company. In just a little over ten years, he was promoted from Crane Service Engineer to Foreman to Superintendent and Project Engineer/Manager, and most recently, Vice President of Marine Technical Services, the parent company of Marine Mechanical Incorporated.

While living in Seattle, McCarthy participated in the Puget Sound alumni chapter and kept in contact with fellow alumni. He now regularly attends the annual Cal Maritime Gala and supports the CMA Foundation’s fundraising efforts. 

McCarthy has hired numerous Cal Maritime graduates and employs Cal Maritime interns each summer. He is married to Amanda McCarthy and they have two daughters, Baylee and Devyn.
